| Hi everybody, I am new to sql server and this forum too. In my company we have Data warehouse and datamarts whcih are populated using DTS jobs. I am told to document these jobs (like how each data mart is getting populated and is it getting populated through only data warehouse or any other data mart also?) Can any please hint me on how to start this task? I would really appreciate your help.Thanks a lot in advance |

You can read about DTS in books online, it is pretty straightforward. Also, check out this DTS introduction article:http://www.developer.com/db/article.php/781121As far as your task goes, you should start by looking at the jobs in enterprise manager and go from there.

I am using enterprise manager and going through the stored procedures, found out some thing worth documenting, I also tried to find it under DTS section, but there are very few local packages which hardly give any info. I just need to know what are the sources and targets. Could you please reply me with a bit detail reply. Thank you once again. |

| You need open each package, check all steps and data sources in it. It's hard for us to tell you how to since we don't know your packages. |
