SQL Server 2000 Standard has different flavors for NT4 and XP. It seems the backup of a db on NT4 will not restore to SQL2000 server on XP. What would be the correct method of transferring the db in such a case? Thanks |

The backups were done with a T-SQL script as a job in the enterprise manager. I tried the restore a while back, so I don't have the message available at the moment(I will have to get back to it in a couple of weeks.) If I recall correctly, the msg was stating that a backup done under that version of SQL server could not be restored to the one I was using. Now, that being said, I cannot state that it would not have been due to a SP difference. They have different versions of SQL Server for the 2 OS's so I might have assumed that was the culprit instead of a SP upgrade. If this doesn't help, I will wait and post back when I have to address this issue and have the specific error message. It would be good for me to get some insight into it before then. Any comments are welcome. Thanks again. |

you must have used a different version of SQL server then. The backups for SQL 2000 are the same regardless of OS you run it on.-ec |
