| Jalise writes "Is there a way for the server(I'm on SQL 2000) to automatically generate a unique ID when the data is imported using DTS? I created a new table with a TESTID column's properties set to IDENTITY Yes, IDENTITY Seed = 1, IDENTITY Increment =1. I was trying to import (using DTS) 50 records as a test and the server rejected the import because TESTID can not accept NULL. Well, I know that because I wanted this column to automatically generate a unqiue ID for me. Am I doing this incorrectly? HELP" |

| You need to modify your data pump task (or bulk insert task ... whatever the case may be) such that it doesn't try to insert into your TestID column. For a DPT, remove the transformation. For a BIT modify your format file.Jay White |
