I'm looking for some assistance with importing data from a file on one compuer to a SQL database on a remote computer.I have the local file path (D:\...) as part of the bulk insert command but keep getting an error that the file path is not valid. I tried to share the local folder on the remote system but it does not work.Any ideas? Thanks in advance.jpaul

There are a few things that it could be:1) Are you using BCP to import the data? The code is executing on the SQL Server so it assumes that file paths are local to the SQL Server. Move the file to the SQL server.2) The SQL account does not have access rights to the path you defined. Talk to your DBA/IT Dept to change the rights.HTH=================================================================Happy Holidays!

Does SQL Server support mapped drives? e.g. if the remote folders containing the text files to be imported into the database are shared using Windows sharing (Z:\FolderName) or (\\ComputerName\Folder)?

It is better to use UNC paths instead of mapped drives, since drive mappings may not exist or could be changed.
