I need to take data from a table in SQL Server and put it into an Excel spreadsheet, but I want to be able to do it automatically without using DTS. How do I use linked servers to do that? What coding would I use? How do I set up the linked servers? Any help would be VERY much appreciated. Thanks!

DTS is the way to go for Excel. You can do it automatically still using DTS. You can launch a DTS package from a job or from an application using dtsrun.exe.
