Can I use a DTS script to download an excel file from a specified location on the company-wide WAN (Intranet) and import certain rows from the excel into a DB table. Is that possible??

Or do i have to use Ole Automation....functions..

If the Excel workbook is properly formatted and you can identify the rows you want, it could work. You would use an FTP- or command task to download the file to your server. Then you just define the connections and make a transform data task.

Make sure the excel sheet isn't altered though, might screw it all up.
