I have inherited a server that has replication running from a database on server a to server b (SQL 2000 sp4). The are only a handful of articles within the replication package. Something is not running because my log on the publisher (server a) database is growing like crazy. We had an unscheduled outage on the publisher this weekend. I can still see my subscriber from the publisher, via QA as it's a linked server. I have a feeling a service or something needs to be restarted but darned if I can find it (yet!). I am brand new to replication but I'll detail what I've done so far.On publisher - reinitialize subscriptions (ran to completion, with success. data verified on subsciber)On subscriber - start synchronizing (type - Pulled/Shared agent. this job runs during the scehduled times but the history says there are any transactions to replicate)On subscriber - a second job - type "Push" does seem to continuously run. I cannot figure out how to see history for this job. However, the data does not seem to be replicating. What am I missing? It's almost like a link (or service?) needs to be re-established. I'm going to continue to try and figure this out but I'm hoping between my searching and posting here, I'll have a resolution sooner rather than later. TIA.edit - And once it's re-established, can I simply truncate and shrink my log on the publisher without affecting the subscriber??Terry |

Did you check Replication monitor? Event log for any error? Can you ping other server?what activities are you having in publisher?Run DBCC opentran You have to backup log frequently(like every 15 mins) to control log. Are you able to shrink after taking log backup? |

You don't have to stop replication in this case. |
