| Is there a way i can trim down a colum while doing an import from excel into sql server? Example, I have a colum that has identifier 1234, I really only want 12 inserted into the database. What I have been doing is trimming the column in excel first, and than doing my import, but thought maybe there would be a way to do it via the DTS package, or some other route. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

| I would import into a staging table first, then you can massage the data as much as you like before importing into your live table. |
