have the sql server trail.

the details are:
Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Password=ghyy2;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=matchi2_y;
Initial Catalog=matchi2_p;DataSource=mssql2.alsonetworks.biz"

(server address is 69.28.81.253)

off course the values r false....do not try ...

(i know about bcp and dts but i tried unsuccessfully-i'm sure it easy i think what stuck me is the server address ())

in bcp i'm facing syntax problems
using dts i cannot connect to the server when entering the server name in my case mssql2.alsonetworks.biz

thanks

ok so when i log-in to my database - it is asp.net enterprise manager

in my last post i write the connection string which connect me to the database in my web hosting i cannot find the details of the server name

only the host name(and host ip),database name,login+password name

so i starting with the Import-> Data Source:

now for my missunderstanding:
so in the server list i see i only the server name which is located on my computer and i do not know the server name of the database it is not located in my computer so i put the host name instead.

so in the dts i put in Data Source: microsoft ole db provider
use off course Sql server authentication.
i enter the password+username and when trying to choose the database

the computer give this error :
[DBNETLIB][ConnectionOpen(Connect()).]
Sql server does not exist or access is denied

so u r saying the all the information in my last replay is not sufficient to import a database -u cannot do it without the server name?
because i connect to the database with the connectin string so how is it i cannot import this database?

C Livina..I can help u come out of this..but need ur cooperation in this regard.

What I can get from here is that ur unable to connect to ur sql server.

Just let me know whether u have installed sql client network utility on ur box or not..if not do it right now....so that we can troubleshoot it in the right manner....

Just write this command in ur command prompt... "cliconfg" n tell me whether ny screens comes up or not...???

but you saying taht i have problem connect to "ur sql server".

and when i do import i start with the source server which is not located on my computer but located in another server:mssql2.alsonetworks.biz.

then second step is the destination which is my computer.

if i try import/export and the source and the destination r both in mt computer i have no problem.

No need for pinging ur own computer...but u have to resolve this that u cannot ping ur sql server. So until n unless u r not able to connect ur sql server or ping it u cannot do anything on it. Check with ur network administrator that why u cannot ping ur server n before that try to ping ur sql server with its ip first. That is let us say that ur server name is aa/love and its IP is 192.168.9.2 (arbitrary one..in ur case it will be something different)...then go to run-cmd and write in their

"ping 192.168.9.2" and check whether ur able to ping ur sql server by its ip instead of its name...if not contact ur network administrator.

Enable the windows firewall for tcp/ip ports through control pannel or add a new entry into firewall which will allow your windows to communicate of port no 1433 i.e the SQL server default listening port...
