harsha writes "Dear All,
I am trying to upload an Excel file using DTS import wizard. but i get the following error when i execute the package

The number of failing rows exceeds the maximum specified
Insert Error, Column 6('DNA_NBr', DBTYPE_WSTR), status 10 integrity violation; attempt to insert null data or data which violates constraints

Unspecified Error.

this probably means that i am trying to insert a null value into a non nullable field but i checked the excel file and there is no blank row or column.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out.

thank you
harsha"

I've come across this a few times. It seems to happen on Excel worksheets that had data deleted from the bottom of the rows. Excel likes to set a LastCell on worksheets that points to the lowest, rightmost filled cell when the worksheet is opened (You can test this using the Edit:Goto menu option). Even if that cell is cleared of data, the worksheet still holds it as the last one. DTS seems to use this as its guideline for the range of data to import.

Try copying only the actual data you want to import to another, brand new worksheet and have DTS import that one instead. See if that fixes it.
