Hi,

I have to import a text file from vb.net to sql 2000 using dts.
What are the steps involved?
Must I first create a package and a sp in sql?

Someone please please help me.

Thanks

Just one time import? - just run "dtswiz" from command prompt, and step through the wizard.

Or do you need to this from your VB program at the request of the user ?

You do have alternatives to DTS in the bcp utility or the BULK INSERT command.
Have the user call a stored procedure with the filename as input parameter,
the sp then does the import of the requested file by using either:
BULK INSERT or bcp or DTS.
