| Mike writes "I have a domain 'AQUAFOIL'. It consists of one Windows 2000 Pro machine 'AQUAFOIL-B9MB25', upon which resides an instance of MSDE 'MSSQLServer', and one Windows Server 2003 'MIYA', upon which resides an instance of SQL Server 2000 '(LOCAL)'. Using Enterprise Manager on MIYA, I can't seem to register the MSDE on the SQL Server Group. Everything I try, returns a message 'Can't connect; server either doesn't exist, or access is denied'. I'm logged in both machines as Administrator, with the same password. Is there any by-the-numbers process which will help me with this problem? Using Visual Studio .NET 2003, an instance of which exists on both machines, the database server instances are recognized, but won't allow a connection in either direction. Is there some incompatibility with MSDE and SQL Server? My intention is to use DTS to transfer data from MSDE database to an identical SQL Server 2000 database on MIYA." |
