Robin writes "We have a SQL Server instance replicating data to MSDE clients. We use a combination of Snapshot and Transactional publications, and frequently encounter client subscriptions being marked "inactive", forcing us to reinitialise the subscription. We have the replication database set to retain up to 300 hours worth of replicated data. There seems no pattern, rhyme or reason as to which subscriptions will be marked inactive.

Server OS - Windows NT4 - SP6a
SQLServer - v7 - SP3

Client OS - Windows NT4 Workstation - SP6a
MSDE - (I think the version is 1) - SP3

Is anyone able to shed any light or offer some tips on what to look for? Does anyone know what are the criteria for marking a subscription inactive?"
