Chuck writes "Oh mighty and powerful SQL Server gurus:

I am a DBA where we are using NetVeritas' "NetBackup" which - I have discovered in my researching of "NetBackup - uses the SQL Server Virtual Device Interface API.

I have so far inferred that: when there are VDI errors, these are logged in vdi.log in the SQL Server log directory.

I don't have a clue about the VDI API, the vdi.log, or "NetBackup" (or VB for that matter). From my past adventures with Java EJB's, I know you could always fing relatively reliable Java docs for a given API that would tell you what various methods were supposed to do and you could then make an educated guess as to how to use the various methods in you EJB.

Is there anywhere under the sun where I can find documentation on SQL Server VDI API methods so I can attempt to decipher these cryptic looking messages from my SQL Server vdi.log:

2001/10/02 20:39:59 pid(558)
Error on VNBU0-558-451
Error at TriggerAbort: invoked
