Sérgio Dinis writes "Hi all, i have an XML column, that can be any type of xml, typed, un-typed, with equal fields or not. The problem is that i want to be able to update and select individual fields from that xml.
If i had a fixed namespace, it would be easy...
If i had all xml coherent, easy too...
The problem here is the various xml that can be inserted, i cannot control the inserts, so any type of xml can appear...
All i want is to access the field that exists (or not) in //general/title for example.

Is there anyway to ignore namespaces to perform easy selects and updates into a xml, just looking at his path?

Well, will be waiting for answer :)
Thanks all and sorry for some bad english in writing ...

Dinis."

Your English is fine, although I'd question the design of this column. If you have specific bits of data that you need to manipulate, perhaps they don't belong in an (uncontrolled) XML column but should instead be stored in regular columns. Just a thought, I don't have an answer for your question though, sorry.
