We are in the process of migrating records from one database to the other. This requires some logic and we decided to use stored procedures. We have aroung 200000 records in one of the tables and i was wondering what would be the best way to migrate them. One obvious process is to loop through records, perform logic and make an insert to the destination table. Are there any other ways/processes to approach this?Any input is much appreciated.

You could use DTS (2000) or SSIS (2005), it depends what you're more comfortable with. For a one time move it won't make muc difference - that many records are going to take a few seconds unless you have a huge amount of processing to do on them.

"perform logic"Best to do that set-based, rather than loop round each one, if you can.Kristen
