Abraham writes "Dear SQLTeam,

Hi, I have been on the look out for a solution to store images in SQL Server 2000.It was then that I found you article at the Url - .
This article was very informative. You had adviced to store the image url in a field rather than the image itself.

But I am working in a clien-server environment. With PB as front end and sqlserver as the Rdbms. If I store the picture of an emplyee (images -BMP, JPG) in file system isnt there the danger of the folder being deleted either knowingly or unknowingly ?

I was tring to get to the other solution posted by another member but unfortunately, I couldnt access that page.

Will u please advice me on the best solution for me.Sholud I try Textcopy ? If so please advice on that also.

Power Builder has buitin functions -SELECTBLOb, and UpdateBlob. But I getting error No 156 when I try to updateblob.Permit me also to stress that I have compatibilty level and the syntax has been rechecked.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Amicably,
Abraham Thomas."

Hi Abraham

Yes - there is the danger of the folder being deleted. There is also the danger of the record or blob being deleted. The solution to both IMO is good security administration & backups.

The database files are also held in the file system - they woud have the same danger as your images.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
