My result from query:
Name Coverage dates
Smith 01/01/2000-01/01/2002
Smith 01/01/2002-01/01/2001
brown 01/01/2003-01/01/2004
I need to display data like this:
name Coverage dates1 Coverage dates2
Smith 01/01/2000-01/01/2002 01/01/2002-01/01/2001
brown 01/01/2003-01/01/2004
how do I do this?

If I use that approach it may take a while to get a result bakc since I am executing against a huge db.

How many columns do you expect, at most?
