Then probably you may need to use text or ntext

What version of sql serevr you are using?

Thanks

In SQL 2000, In the max size the varchar is 8000, you can not increase more then that.

Alternative is the Text Datatype, but there are lots of limitation on it, Read on Book online,
before implementing it.

Also to add to what the other two are saying, stay away from ntext if you don't need unicode text. It will store extra characters and add to the size of you data.
