Hi,
I am using sql server 2000. after opening my application, i have seen some of the transactions are opened using enterprise manager -->Current Activity--> Process info, the column values are

open Transactions cmd waittype status
1 awaiting command not waiting sleeping

after that i have right clicked on the process id and saw the properties. it displays the one select query...

is this because of any locking occured in the future?

Thanks

probably not. I think you are probably looking at your own connection to the database that enterprise manager is currently using. Sorry if that doesn't make much sense.

One easy wasy to look for blocking is to run sp_who2 from query analyzer. One of the columns in the output will show if there is any blocking occuring. Look this stored procedure up in BOL for more details.

Hi,

When i was accessing my application, i got locked in the row. so the select statement did not retrieve the value. i have seen in the enterprise manager it shows that

spid--> 56 --> Blocking
spid-->58--> Blocked by 56
and also wait type of the process 56 is LCK_M_S....
so what are the situations share lock is occured...? how to prevent it...
