Hello,

is there any way to detect if a nvarchar field in a table contents at least one character with unicode greater than 127.

Well, it's not pretty but there is a unicode function in sql server that will return the unicode value of a character. If you created a function to parse a string and fed that into the unicode function, you could test for it. However, if you're running a lot of data through this it's not going to perform very well for you.

well this was my first thought but it doesn't seem to be very effective
