If you are interested in only the rows for which the restriction is true, place the restriction in the where clause. However, if you want to include all the rows of the outer table, regardless of whether they satisfy the restriction, place the restriction in the on clause.

Please correct me if the answer for question1 is wrong
SELECT table1.Key_id, table1.col2,table1.col3
FROM table1 LEFT JOIN
( SELECT key_id FROM table2 (where clause if needed)
) DiffKeys
ON table1.Key_id = DiffKeys.key_id
WHERE DiffKeys.key_id IS NULL

Please tell me whether its correct or not

We don't answer homework questions. Doesn't your friend have class materials which would help him/her with this? How about you try out the queries rather than asking if they work?
