suhasis writes "select A.au_id from Authors as A join titleauthor as TA on A.au_id=Ta.au_id
join Titles T on TA.title_id=T.title_id

my Question

You can see the actual query plan in Query Analyzer, using the option under the Query menu.

Unlike Oracle, the sequence of the tables in the FROM clause do not matter to SQL Server, the optimizer looks at the entire query when determining the plan. The only way to override this is to use the FORCE ORDER hint, and it is not recommended. For more information, look up "hints" in Books Online.
