hi there,

is it possible to execute a stored proc, in a database on another server from a trigger? e.g.
I have 2 db servers in the same network. One with sql 7.0 the other with sql2000. the sql 7.0 db will have a trigger that needs to call a stored proc on the sql2000 server.

how do I go about setting this up?

thanks - matt

You need to setup a linked server to the other server. Once created, you reference it by its 4 part naming convention:

EXEC LinkedServerName.DBName.OwnerName.StoredProcName

Take a look in BOL for details about linked servers.
