Hi gurus
we have recently moved to a new server.but evry now and than we are getting this error.

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e31'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired

please help as this is troubling us too much

Well you've got a performance problem. Have you reindexed? UPDATE STATISTICS? Checked Performance Monitor for hardware bottlenecks? Examined the query's execution plan? ...

you're getting this error where? from your application??
if so increase the TimeOut property of your connection in the app.

Tara has already Listed what you need to check to ascertain your problem.

Read it again. if you still dont understand . how to Reindex,update stats, check performance monitor. Ask
