I've put a fancy new MS Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 on my PC - it has a smooth running wheel, rather than one that is "notched" (and soes sideways tilt for horizontal scroll).

QA window vertical scroll overrun is awful - if I roll the wheel the screen keeps on scrolling for long after I've stopped turning the wheel - its ok if I just turn the wheel the equivalent of one notch, but in other applciations on this PC as soon as I stop turning the wheel the scrolling stops.

Anyone else come across this?

Your saying the window isn't keeping up with the mouse scroller?

Have you tried increasing the sensitivity of the mouse wheel?

I haven't really seen this happen?

Yup, that's it. Only happens in QA - other applications seem to be fine.

yeah i noticed that too. i "won" the mouse on a microsoft lecture on C# 2.0 (just had to brag ) and i noticed the same thing.
but then again QA isn't the top of the line in scrolling...

With a slow enough PC and a big enough window this happens even with an old 'notched' wheel mouse.

... and with a turbo-nutter-bastard PC and a tiny Window your response would be?

Given the recent ban on hunting I think that "Something-anatomical" + "discomforted-mouse" would be inappropiate, Arnold!

Uh, beta-blockers to steady your wheel-finger?
I presume the problem is that the tilt-wheel mice generate WM_MOUSEWHEEL for smaller movements than the old ones and that QA's wheel handling code doesn't care, but just keeps scrolling one line at a time for each event, irrespective of whether there are a whole bunch of such events queued.

I'm stuck with it then ... the drivers are quite old, but there don't appear to be any newer ones. I was hoping that there was some patch or workaround. Ho! Hum!

Hahaha! The horizontal scroll is OK, I'll stick to one-liners!

So Windows Update is lying when it says there are no newer drivers :-(

well, yeah. Windows Update sucks for driver updates.

go to www.microsoft.com/hardware and check for downloads. 5.2 is the latest intellipoint software available.

Windows Update
I've had bad experences getting drives from there. Lets just say Windows update thought it knew how to install the latest ATI video card drivers, but it was REALLY wrong! Several horus later I got everything working again.

I always get drivers the old fashioned way.

We've had problems with 'Windows' drivers particularly for printers. Suffice to say we get printer driver updates from HP

Hey I have the same mouse,

Just configure it in Control Panel > Mouse > Scrolling = Set this to the minimum and you should be fine =)

WOW a question I can actually answer lol

agreed -- Windows update sucks for Driver downloads. Never trust it ! it wanted to overwrite my just installed NVidia video drivers with ones over a year old !

otherwise, though, it works fine, for OS patches and updates.

Sorry Pace, U had tried that but it turned out the driver that came with the Brand New Mouse was Very Old Indeed!
