I am using the EX plan to see the performance of the queries.
Is it best to have the Cost to be as high as possible? For example My table has a clustered index which is used in the where clause. This gives a cost of 99%. Then when I add a non-clustered index which is another field used iin the where clause then EX plan Cost goes down to 96%
Thanks

If you add up all of the items in the execution plan, they will always total 100%.
