Hello againI have more or less finished the logical design of the database I am creating for internal management of job scheduling, tracking, stationery stock maintenance and ordering, invoicing, etc, etc. It is going to be an internal system acessible to all employees (of which, at present, there are about 40 members). I am now at the next stage of searching for any similar products or for 3rd party software that would make the development process easier. At present, we do not really have sufficient resources (in terms of people with the right skills - designing front end solutions). We have excellent programmers, however, as you all know, there is little point in reinventing the wheel, and if we can purchase something that can be moulded and manipulated to suit our needs, then bring it on!!!!Therefore, being the wonderfully knowledgeable people that you all are, I was wondering if any of you know of such 3rd party software, or companies that will have similar systems for referencing? Thanks - I shall pick this up tomorrow as it is now hometime! Yay!Hearty head pats

Don't have much experience in modifying 3rd party apps but *something* tells me that this isn't as easy as one would think. First of all the app needs to be "modifyable" which mean that you have to buy the actual sourcecode, and this I belive will be a challenge at least if your looking for a decent system. Second, are your business needs really that different from what the standard apps offer? There must be thousands of sites selling such things...--Lumbago"Real programmers don't document, if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand"

Yeah, the source code is what I am looking for. Third party software is where you can buy part made programs, but you change them to suit the specific requirements of your business. As with OO programming languages, we would get a library of classes that can be manipulated to suit our needs. I do know of a few companies that do such a thing, but was hoping that perhaps some of you guys may know of alternative companies. As Lumbago said, there are probably thousands of programs out there that do similar things, but finding them is the b*gg3r! But to be honest, our line of business is one of two such companies in England, as what we offer is fairly unique, so although there may be similar programs, we need something fairly specific (thats the beauty of buying third party software, as half the work has been done). Anyway, thanks for your input guys and I shall keep searching the lovely world wide web for answers.Hearty head pats
