I'm looking to bulk insert into a table.

At the same time I want to validate that the values being inserted are correct for some columns.

I can apply a check constraint:

alter table BLAH add constraint CK_gender check (Gender in ('M','F'))

However, rather than the insert fail, I would rather the correct rows be inserted and exceptions generated for the incorrect rows.

Is this possible?

Thanks

You can use DTS to do that. Check out sqldts.com.

I normally import data into a staging table that doesn't contain any constraints. I then use T-SQL to move the data from the staging table into my other tables. Using T-SQL I check for the things that I am interested in.
