Urgent!!!!!!!!!
I installed SQL 2000 and created 2 instances. I could only see 1 instance in Enterprise Manager. Can any one help me? Also when i am trying New SQL Server Registration, i cannot see my server name or my instances names. |

Open up Query Analyzer, connect to the second instance via:
ServerName\InstanceName
Does it work?

What port did you use for the second instance? Try using the port in QA:
ServerName,PortNumber
Server1,1434 --if you kept the default (bad idea if this is a web environment)

Its not a web environment. Though, the port i used for both the instances is 1433. I will give a try using 1434 |

You can't use 1433 for two instances. They must listen on different ports. Check Server Network Utility to see which port it is using.
And please post the exact error and not an abbreviated error.

The error i am getting is Unable to connect to "Servername" Server:MSG 17, Level 16 ,state 1 [microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][Shared Memory]SQL SErver Does not exist or access denied.
And the 2nd instance is using 1434 port. I manually entered the port number. |

Did you check Server Network Utility on the database server?
Is the MSSQL$InstanceName service even started?
Oh and your error message shows that you aren't using TCP/IP for the connection. Use TCP/IP by adding an alias to Client Network Utility using the servername and port.

So create an alias using Client Network Utility so that you can connect to this second instance. You are currently not using TCP/IP which is probably what you need. The alias will resolve this for you. Are you trying this out on the database server or from a client machine?

Tara, I have entries for both instances in Client Network utility. I deleted 1 registered instance and tried to register again....but it wouldn't let me. It gave me the same error |

You aren't using TCP/IP as the error message doesn't indicate that. Please post what you have for the alias for this second instance. What do you have selected?
