| I believe those sort of limitations are based on your hardware and the size of the records in questions. Smaller rows (fewer columns, less bytes) will insert faster than larger rows. Also, the indexes you have on the table in question will slow down inserts. Depending on the items above, you should be able to do upwards of 50-100 records/second.
