| This is possible, but takes a few steps.First, rename the machine.Then run SQL Server setup and choose upgrade. This should make all the necessary registry settings.Then in query analyzer, run these :exec xp_dropserver <oldname>exec sp_addserver <newname>, LOCALDamian |

Your data will be safe, but it never hurts to have backups (You DO have backups don't you ????)As for running setup, that is one of the steps. Don't you have the CD anymore ?  Damian |
