Hi all,

Probably the daftest question of the day but is creating a SPROC in the master database a bad thing?

Your opinion is appreciated.

You sometimes do need to create SPROCS in the master database. I think that's the only way to create a proc that runs within the context of the database it is invoked from. Rest of the times, I would leave it alone.

Owais,

Thanks. That's exactly what I am trying to do. I don't usually play around in there (in fact, I've never done it before), but in this case I will need to create one in there for the duration of the script. So I guess there is no harm in doing so long as I drop the SPROC when I am done.
