Hi,
What is the purpose of using a NOLOCK hint in a SELECT Statement. Is it a good paractice to use this hint.

BOL says it does not honor EXCLUSIVE LOCKS, any insights?

We use NOLOCK hint when we run SELECT statements in production (ad-hoc basis). It is definitely a good practice to use the NOLOCK hint in production to get counts of tables so that you don't affect production. It just gives you a dirty read.
