The operating system needs to be Windows 2000 not NT4 for NEWID() to generate random results. Is the OS NT4?

OK,,thanks.
The OS on the remote SQL7 box (does not work) is NT4, OS on local dev box (works with local db) is NT5(2000).

So, have i got it right? NEWID needs an OS of 2000 on THE BOX HOSTING THE DB!!YES??

thanks, al
