We are in the midst of rewriting our application and are currently using identity fields as the primary key in all of our tables. In order to facilitate possible future expansion to clustered servers we want to switch to using GUIDS but are curious about the performance impact.

I know there are plenty of articles out there explaining the pros and cons but I'm having trouble quantifying the pros and cons in order to do a true cost benefit.

We did some rudimentary internal performance testing and didn't see much difference.

Anyone have any metrics or experience using both?
