This is probably a simple one.

I am looking for the best way to return how many records are in table specific to one user. I just need the number of rows. As I said I am looking for the best way, I can thiunk of a few ways but, I am sure there is a very simple way to do it that I just don't know about.

you can use count(*) .

eg:
select count(*) from tablename where <condition>
