Anuj writes "I'm writing a VB program with a datagrid that lets the user step through a table of cost records. However, for some accounts the table has on the order of hundreds of thousands of records. Obviously, it's not efficient to dump the whole table at once to the grid (and when i tried, I ran out of memory and crashed the program!).

So my idea is to return parts of the table to show the user until he steps down or up a page to keep speed up. Any ideas on how to do this? Sorting and filtering the information is also an issue."

I would pull one record at a time to the grid. If you step up or down just pull the next or previous record by sending the appropriate variables to a SELECT stored procedure. If there is a stutter in doing this then perhaps try and pull a few records at a time.
