I come in this morning and one of the databases I notice no trans log bu was ran for a 12 hour period.

All others ran fine except for our accounting database.

We run a trans log backup every hour.

Then this morning just after 9:30 a trans log backups and then the regular backup that should have ran at 10:05pm last night finishes.

Of course everybody denies being in the app or didn't run anything out of the ordinary

Just checking

Check the SQL Server Error Log.

All I'm seeing is everything that ran. Just this 12 hour gap on this one database

Could you let us know what the issue was in case this happens to someone else who posts here?

I looked into the Log folder.

There was a Optimization that started for that database and it took 13 hours to rebuild the indexes for the tables.

Because of that none of the trans or regular backup would run.

Seems odd but everything looks good.

That is very odd as an "optimization" job does not interfere with backups. Is there custom code in place in your backup job that checks to see if another job is running?

Nope.

I do know that it started at 8:05pm ~13.5 hours later a trans backup was ran and then a complete backup. Which is around 9:32am?

Trans are setup every hour and the complete is at 10:50pm
Nothing ran until the opt finished
