I think this is what you are wanting.

You'll be calling a stored procedure for the data source of your crystal report. You need to have the procedure call as:

EXEC proc '12/12/04'

The proc will need to be formatted as:

CREATE PROCEDURE proc

@date DATETIME

AS

SELECT @date
