PhilM writes "I installed MSDE 2000 SP3 on a Win2K server at a client. In Mixed mode authentication, as a default instance. I can work with it using OSQL from the same machine. From Enterprise Manager on another machine on the same LAN, I cannot register the MSDE server (SQL server does not exist or access denied)(tried both Windows authenitcaion and using the sa and pwd). However, that same EM can connect to other, remote SQL servers outside the LAN (more than one). From an Enterprise Manager on yet another machine on a LAN elsewhere, I can register and use an MSDE instance I installed on NT4 on yet another customer's web server. However, that EM cannot see the MSDE on Win2K either, same message. So, the MSDE instance appears to not respond from either inside the firewall or outside (I did open TCP port 1433).There's something I have forgotten. I need some leads. TIA" |

Is the SQL Server listening on 1433? If not, you need to create aliases on the client machines.Tara |
