Hi thereOur software package users use MSDE (1) and occasionally a problem occurs with a particular database. In todays problem an unknown error was thrown when backing up the DB and the application could make no subsequent calls to that database. Even after rebooting the database remains inaccesible. A look at the logs reveals that the DB is "currently being restored." It is a pretty rough solution but on my development environment I just stop the server, delete the DB files, and use Enterprise manager to delete the ghost DB.The problem is that the user has no Enterprise manager and I want to know how to effect a solution using SQL commands. Can anybody help? The user has current backups so we don't need the old DB. Thanks |

Try drop database to get rid of the database. If you use the profiler you can see commands which enterprise manager issues.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
