Hello,We have a server that is running sql 2005 workgroup. Due to regular maintenance we will be moving it to new hardware. The new hardware is installed with sql 2005 standard.Question: Can I just move the databases over to the new server? Or do i need to do and in place upgrade on the old server from sql workgroup to sql standard first in order to be compatible. Thanks in advance.Toni |

Just back up your databases and restore them to the new SQL Server. You'll probably want to migrate logins, linked servers, and other server configuration too.Our beloved leader Bill Graziano has a handy utility to do just that: http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/billg/archive/2012/03/11/update-to-sql-server-configuration-scripting-utility.aspx |
