Hi folks,
We currently have a database which serves our reporting needs. The database is in Sql server 2000. I am in charge of re-architecting the database. This is my first experience at database architecting, What would be a good place to start. Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Ramdas

Maybe you should read a book about it?

I can recommend Professional SQL Server 2000 Database Design, by Louis Davidson (Wrox)

Can download chapter 6 for free. All about normalisation, a good place to start.

Do you have any data modeling experience?

Type in data modeling in the artical e search on the home page...

You need a sound logical design BEFORE you physically implement anything.

It's not a little thing.
