Does anyone have a step by step instructional tutorial for new people that explains how to upgrade your database from MSDE to SQL 2000?I have a database that someone installed on my web server and its running the MSDE, but I want to install SQL 2000 (the real one not the msde one). Can someone please explain the step by step process for upgrading a database from MSDE to SQL 2000?Thanks in advance!- Gregg Peters |

Guess the obvious way would be to back up all the databases, uninstall msde, install sql server then restore.Bit surprised if it doesn't give an option to upgrade though.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |

I've just detached databases from one flavor server and reattached to the other server. I've done this both from SQL 7 to MSDE 1.0 and from MSDE 1.0 to SQL 7. I assume SQL2000/MSDE2000 works the same way.======Doug G====== |

MSDE is SQL Server, but its the engine only, without most of the client/administrative tools, and is less powerful than some versions of SQL Server. (like Enterprise), so a database can be detached from MSDE to SQL Server, and vice versa, as long as the server versions are the same.Sarah Berger MCSD |
