Hi everybody,

I'd like to transfer a database from a computer to another.

Is there an easy way to make it work ?

Hmmm. Yes, I'm quite new in the dba job ;)))

Thanks

Hi everybody,

I found a way, but with the use of the Enterprise Manager (installed on a third server), by creating a backup of the database and restore it on the new server.

But :
- The users/logins/roles were not copied ! I had to fight to restore it !!
Later, i found the Generate SQL script, which could help me... But too late...
- I would like to have a pure 'MSDE' solution. I found a command line utility (bcp) and will explore it... when time will be available...

Thanks for those who could read this message...

See you,

Thierry

NR,
has a nice script for DMO-Transfer on his site.

www.nigelrivett.com

If you have DTS you can also use a
transfer database task and a transfer logins task.
