hai,

My sql server machine has net connection.
What happens is ,in the Enterprise manager when i tried add another server in the network, it started scanning in the port 1433, and i started getting some abuse mails.

with my ip and destination ip something like that.
have anybody faced this problem.
How to avoid this.

Never put your database server on the net and even better a Microsoft OS should never be given a static internet ip.

For your imediate need if the other server has a non-DHCP ip enter the ip and not the server name.
