Hi and thanks in advanceI installed MSSQL2005 on a Vista Home premium machine. Everything went well and reported no errors. After opening the SQL Server Management Studio I was presented for the first time with the "Connect to Server" DialogServer Type = Database EngineServer Name= (Here is Blank)Authentication = Windows AuthenticationI typed my computer name in the Server Name but it says it can connectWhy I get no Server Name?Thanks for the help.Best regards,Carlos |

try local also. also did you install database engine or only client tools alone? probably worth checking in your surface area configuration manager. |
