clustered index puts the rows physically in that order on the disk. The advantage is that it's normally a faster SELECT. The disadvantage is that whenever you INSERT / DELETE rows, you have to move records around on disk, which can take time.

Non-clustered stores the records in the order they were inserted. So, slower SELECTS, but faster INSERT / DELETE.

To force the optimizer to use a specific index:

Select a, b
from table (INDEX=index_name)

And what you need to do with DBCC?
