Hello, I am a begginer with SQL and this is my first post here.I have been required to install an application that is based on a MSDE2000 (service pack 3).It works fine on workstations running Windows 2000, Windows XP, Server 2000 however I have been told that it will not run on SERVER 2003 R2 due to incompatibility issues. So far I have non conclusive results. A friend of mine installed the application on a Server 2003 R2 and it didn't work.A few days ago I did the same installation and it has been working fine.My question is. Is it true that MSDE 2000 is NOT COMPATIBLE with Server 2003 R2 ?I have searched the entire Microsoft support site and other sites about SQL but haven't found any conclusion.ThanksMarcelo |

I think it should be compatible. however mainline support for MSDE and 2000 is ending soon, april 2008 I heard. That means no more service packs or hotfixes after that point.Perhaps you should think about upgrading to 2005, there's also a free version called SQL Express 2005. www.elsasoft.org |
